Marriage And Other Games

Out Now in Paperback

Forgive and forget? Could you...? When girl-about-town Charlotte discovers her husband has been arrested for fraud, she flees to the wilds of Exmoor to nurse her broken heart. Yet despite the slower pace of life, she finds she's not the only person whose life is in turmoil. There's Sebastian, bad boy of the British art scene, determined to drink the local pub dry while his wife lives it up in London. Then Fitch, who married the high-spirited Hayley thinking he would find wedded bliss, but is struggling to keep up with her outrageous demands. And finally Penny, recently divorced and quietly determined to have more fun second time around - but who with? As Charlotte adapts to a life without LK Bennett and Starbucks on the doorstep, she turns to her newfound friends for advice. Can she find it in her heart to forgive her husband for what he did? And if she does, will it be too late?

Closer:  'This compelling and romantic novel is a real winter warmer'.

WRITING COMMERCIAL WOMEN'S FICTION - CHEZ CASTILLON

If one of your New Year's Resolutions was to start writing a novel and you haven't got cracking yet, why not join me? A typical day would go like this: wake bright and early and go for an invigorating dip in the courtyard swimming pool, enjoy a leisurely breakfast then spend the morning learning about the finer points of the genre, plot, characterisation, dialogue, editing before lunch by the pool with a couple of glasses of rose. In the afternoon, you will spend some time writing to consolidate what you have learnt in the morning, before reconvening to share what you have written (not as ghastly as it sounds, I promise!) and swap notes. In the early evening sun, enjoy a walk by the river or a trip to St Emilion or a killer G and T at Monique's bar (if you don't come away from there inspired, there is no hope for you). Then a wonderful dinner with more wine, laughter, music, inspiration, gossip and confessions before tumbling into bed. My teaching policy is to give people confidence rather than bombard them with rules. And to have fun. Please come.
